Comic Fans Take Over the Gaslamp!

In just over two weeks, entertainment fans will swarm the Gaslamp once again for Comic-Con 2012. If you’re staying in hotels near Gaslamp  District from July 11 to July 15, chances are, you’re going to the world’s largest comic convention. This year has plenty of highlights, from a 10-year reunion of the complete Firefly cast to screenings of the pilots of the hottest new television shows to hit the air.
Comic-Con 2012 starts with Preview Night again this year with five pilot episodes of the most highly anticipated new television shows. If you bought a ticket to Preview Night, you will see the pilots of 66 Park Avenue, Arrow, The Following, Revolution and Cult in Ballroom 20.
The first day of Comic-Con, Thursday, July 12 has many goodies in store for attendees. At 10am, there is a panel called “The Witty Women of Steampunk” that will discuss literature, fashion, romance, adventure and more. At 10:15am, TheOneRing.net will also hold a panel about The Hobbit in both book and movie forms. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will hold its last Comic-Con panel at 12:45pm in Hall H, with a Walt Disney panel on Frankenweenie, Oz the Great and Powerful and Wreck-It Ralph to follow, featuring directors Tim Burton and Sam Raimi. Popular cable show Dexter will also hold a panel in Ballroom 20. For Thursday’s full program, click here.
Friday is also full of great events, with panels for shows Community, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad in Ballroom 20. Two anniversaries will take place on this day: the 10 year reunion of the sci-fi cult hit Firefly and the 30th anniversary of Blade Runner. For more details on programming, click here.
