Fall Back with the Fall Back Festival in San Diego!

Gaining an extra hour is definitely worth a celebration: it means more sleep or more time for fun! Come celebrate the end of Daylight Savings time in the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter at the 11th annual Fall Back Festival. It’s a great family event that includes the Fall Back FestivalHistoric Children’s Street Faire, which sends families back to the 1880s to celebrate the history of the Gaslamp Quarter.

Entrance to the festival is free but some activities require a donation or minimal fee. The event is kid-focused with hands-on-activities such as gold panning, crafts, and pony rides. Children can also learn how to churn butter and make candles. Food is of course a big highlight of the event, with free hot dogs, ice cream floats sponsored by Ghirardelli, and more. Many different eating contests will be held at the Fallback Festival, including pie, spaghetti, and ice cream eating contests. The other two contests that will be held are pig calling and pumpkin seed spitting contests.

On two stages, artists Alpine Outlaws, Mark Paskell, Tommy Price & The Stilettos and Garcia 3 will perform. Magic, ballet, rope tricks, gun slinging, Native American dancing and storytelling will also be featured. Specialty booths at the festival will include sand art, a saloon, a Wild West show and a candy store. The Wild West show will feature a shoot-out for a chance for families to experience the history and culture of San Diego’s past.

The festival is sponsored by Union Bank, and all proceeds will go towards the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation to assist in preserving the history of San Diego and the Gaslamp Quarter. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the extra hour and the past this fall!
